Nearly a half million cybersecurity workers will be needed to fill shortages in the U.S. according to the Cyber Security Workforce Study produced in late 2019 by ISC2 the global nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals. For Texans, the bigger the challenge the better, so Bobby Blount, a cybersecurity systems engineer for The MITRE Corporation, led a panel aligning K-12 cybersecurity education programs. Organized by the University of Texas San Antonio National Security Collaboration Center, the panel of Superintendents and other Independent School District officials gathered virtually on October 8th to share details about their array of cybersecurity initiatives.  In addition to his MITRE role, Blount is Chair of the Bexar County School Boards Coalition and longtime member of the Northside ISD Board of Trustees, which makes him ideally qualified to lead such a discussion.
